Punishment for most crimes was limited to the death penalty. AKA it was punishable by death. That's why they always make fun in the movies, when someone steals an apple, they killed them. The entire code was based on the truthfulness of the person making the claim. Also the law had different punishments based on if you were the slave or the master.
