The Han dynasty consisted of various emperors who ruled in succession, such as Liu Bang who recruited people for his government based on their ability,not wealth or birth. He also drew lessons from collapse of former dynasties. Emperor Wen and Emperor Jing reduced taxes on people and ensured they farmed and became hardworking. Emperor Wu sent traders to many countries to ensure foreign trade. He also promoted defence by appointing two generals for their skills in battle.
