Through strategies of gambling and informal trading, poorer members of society have access to more trading methods. Gambling allows people with low amounts of cash flow to generate higher amounts through betting on odds, this strategy, however, is highly risky as it can often result in higher losses than gains. Informal trading is the act of trading items, services, and acts in the spaces deemed "public", through informal trading people with low amounts of start-up capital can trade without paying tax, using a cash trade strategy, this allows returns to be higher, and allows for a steady stream of income.

In poor people have a higher rate of gambling compare those with higher income. They are hoping to win a huge amount of cash by gambling and think a quick way to become rich.

Gambling is a diverse activity, so various kinds of gambling addiction exist as well. It is not always obvious when somebody is dependent to gambling. Contrary to popular belief, the demonstration of gambling is not restricted to slot machines, cards and casinos/club.
