In Type 2 diabetes it is usually life style caused and influence (even if people say genetics its not for sure you'll get it, but you are at higher risk). It usually developed at the age of 40, is manageable and preventable with diet and exercise, and its quite possible to live undiagnosed for a while or even forever.
