Consider the rectangular prism with length 4 cm, width 9 cm, and height 16 cm.
If one of the dimensions is doubled what will happen to the volume? Justify your response.

Respuesta :

Just work it out. 4 × 9 ×16 = 576 cm². If we double the values we get 8 ×18 × 32 = 4608 cm², which is eight times the original value.
The problem says only one of the values is doubled. No matter which side you double, it will always end up multiplying to equal 1152 (I did 8*9*16 and 4*18*16)

The answer is the volume will be two times greater than the original volume of 576.
