Tet Offensive was a coordinated series of attacks taken in Vietnam, carried out in more than a hundred cities and branches in South Vietnam. Although the US and South Vietnamese forces managed to hold off the attacks, North Vietnam achieved a strategic victory in this offensive and marked a milestone in the Vietnam War. Offensive was an attempt to encourage rebellion among the people of South Vietnam and to encourage the US to diminish its involvement in the war. Thus, this offensive marked the beginning of the slow US withdrawal. Reports of offensive shocked the American public and undermined the war effort.
