The dive instructor and the divers are in the photic zone or the sunlight zone as they approach the water. It is the 1st layer of the ocean that has a depth of 0-200 meters. Sunlight can penetrate through this area of the ocean supporting light-dependent sea plants and animals. Humans can thrive within this zone provided that they wear special gears like in scuba diving.
