Michael Useem creates suspense immediately in the beginning of the narrative. He has an astronaut announce that their mission was in need for help. The author furthermore does not end his first page without describing a technical difficulty occurring. The most suspenseful part was when Liebergot and Kranz were trying to help the astronauts survive. Their dialogue stressed to the LEM their instructions were needed to be done right away. The descriptions of the author about oxygen loss also helped readers feel tense emotions.
