The Harlem Renaissace was extremely significant for African Americans for several different reasons including:
1) Emergence of a proud black culture-This era of the Harlem Renaissance saw a drastic change in black culture. African Americans no longer viewed themselves as inferior to whites. Rather, they showed their intelligence and creativity through literature, music, and art.
2) Resulted in increased popularity in jazz music.- Thanks to people like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, jazz music became popular among white and black citizens. This genre of music became the most popular type of music throughout the 1920's.
