The McCormick´s reaper contributed to the agricultural industry.
The mechanical reaper´s invention was attributed to Cyrus McCormick, but he improved the invention of his father Robert and patented it on 1834; this machine was a horse-drawn farm implement to cut small grain crops. During the next decades the McCormick reaper competed against the Hussey reaper dispite they were quite similar but the date of creation was under discussion becauso Cyrus claimed that his reaper was actually invented on 1831, two years before the Hussey´s invention.
This invention was relevant for the agricultural industry during the 19th century because it was a a significant part of the country´s economy and with this technology farmers could produce goods more efficiently and faster than before.
