I have no idea how to or how I would even start to write a problem like this, Please help.

In China each calendar year is given one of 12 names, which rotate year after year. The year 2000 was the year of the dragon and year 2001 was the year of the snake. The subsequent ten years are, in order, the years of the horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, boar, rat, ox, tiger, and rabbit. After the year of the rabbit, the year of the dragon will occur again and the the whole cycle with repeat. what will the year 3000 be?

That's an easy one! The year would be Monday Janurary 27th, 3000 and it would be the year of the monkey!

The year on the Chinese calendar repeats every twelve years, and can be by number of 12s in the given year

  • The year 3,000 will be the year of the monkey

Year 2000 = Year of the dragon

Year 2001 = Year of the snake

The number of 12 years in 1,000 years is given as follows;

Year 2,998 = The year of the horse

Year 2,999 = The year of the sheep

Therefore;

  • Year 3,000 = The year of the monkey

Alternatively, we have;

The title of the Chinese year is given by dividing the required year on the Gregorian Calendar by 12 and and counting the number of years in the remainder starting from 0 remainder as the year of the monkey

  • 3,000 is exactly divisible by 12, therefore, the year 3,000 is the year of the monkey

  • The date of the New Year on the Chinese calendar on the year 3,000 is 23rd January. The zodiac sign of the year 3,000 is the White Metal Monkey.
