Ohio might have grown so much during that time period because their culture was based on agriculture. Back then, people were all rooted in families that are born and raised to care for their farms and agricultural products. The continuous growth of agricultural land has also cause the growth and expansion of families that did not want their lands to be used by other "market-minded agrarians." They continued on with their lives in the farms that they are tilling, raising new generations through that time period, and thus the population boom of Ohio happened between 1800 up to the year 1840.
