Government supported programs to help the needy have continued since Roosevelt's time. Examples would be the government programs that help local economies and programs that provide health care for children. These programs are expensive and cost the citizens money in the form of taxes. Do you think that the government should still continue to help people in need or should people have to take care of themselves? Explain your answer.

I think that people should take care of themselves unless they are really sick and poor. I would give sick/poor people about 10,000 dollars. I would also get them to a doctor and make sure they are really sick and not faking it for money. I think that we should be able to support the poor/sick and then ourselves. Not the people who get benefits and don't work because they don't want to.

I believe that it depends on the situation, some people use the government for money when they are more than capable of doing it on their own. Like the people who won’t even get married because they will lose their government assistance even though they live together which is basically stealing from the ones who actually need it, also the people who complain and expect money from the government because they have no job, but they don’t even bother to get one. These kinds of people take money from the ones who use it for what it is meant for and don’t deserve what they get. I think that if you can do by yourself then you don’t need help its meant to help people not a free pay check.
