The crusades initially happened in 1095 proclaimed by Pope Urban II. They were Christian military expeditions from Europe ,that aimed to liberate the Holy Land and Jerusalem from Muslim rule. Although its main objective was to regain Christian territories, it was also motivated by economic objectives with the opening of new markets along the expedition route.
