The May Fourth Movement was the aesthetic, and legislative action which originated out of student associates in Beijing on 4 May 1919. This was was anti-imperialist and necessitated the reconstruction of Chinese sovereignty and autonomy. Its administrators also desired socio-political reformation, specifically the elimination of Confucian values and a community based on constitutional government, radical individualism, craftsmanship, and industry.
