Personally, if I had friends that held me down and were a burden to me, I would get them out of my life asap. Being in a relationship, friendship, etc. with a person/people that hold you down is just plain toxic. You shouldn't waste your time on fake people. If they were really your friend, they would accept you and let you do you, however of course they would help you and tell you if you were wrong or if what you were doing is stupid. They would tell you to stop, respectfully and truthfully because they want to make you a better person.
