17/2- 23/3 ( Find the Least Common Denominator: 6) since 2*3= 6 you have to multiply 3 times 17 so that gives you 51/6, then since 3*2= 6 you have to multiply 23 times 2 which gives you 46/6
Then you subtract them: 51/6 - 46/6= 5/6, you keep the denominator the same and just subtract the numerator
