metamorphosis begins with the insect hatching from an egg into a soft worm like shape called a larva. at the end of the larva stage the insect will become a pupa by creating a hard shell. in the pupa stage the larva will stop eating and moving its little body parts. inside the pupa the larvas body will completely chamge and grow into a fully developed adult. then their life cycle starts all over.
