Krypton is named after the Greek word that means “secret.” Which explains why krypton was most likely given this name?

A. Krypton is a halogen, so it is a secret element because it is always part of a compound and is difficult to find by itself.
B. Krypton is a halogen, so it should be kept secret because it is so reactive and toxic.
C. Krypton is a noble gas, so it was difficult for chemists to find it, as though it was a secret.
D. Krypton is a noble gas, so it secretly bonds with every type of element without showing it.

Answer Please :)

Respuesta :

The answer is C because krypton is a noble gas so it can not be a or b so the answer has to be c or d. Since it is a noble gas it does not bond so that takes out d so therefore the answer is C.

Answer is: C. Krypton is a noble gas, so it was difficult for chemists to find it, as though it was a secret.

Krypton is a chemical element with symbol Kr and atomic number 36.

Krypton has 36 electron and 36. It is noble gas (group 18).

Electron configuration of krypton atom:

₃₆Kr 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p⁶ 3d¹⁰ 4s² 4p⁶.

Noble gases are in group 18: helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe) and radon (Rn). They have very low chemical reactivity.
