The Amplitude is the Intensity of the wave, the power transferred by unit. The light wave has two components: electric field and magnetic field. With E is denoted the amplitude of the electric field ,with  M the amplitude of the magnetic field. These fields stimulate force (F) to act on particle of electric charge which gives the intensity of the wave. The Force is expressed in units Newtons and the electric charge in coloumbs. That’s why the units of the intensity of the wave is newtons per coloumbs (N*C^-1).
