Cartilage is a firm, flexible, non-vascular connective tissue that is usually found at the end of joints, rib cage, nose, ear, throat, and between intervertebral disks. During ossification (a process of bone formation by cells known as osteoblasts), cartilage which is relatively soft becomes ossified and is transformed into bone.
