Density Independent Limiting Factor
Oseni

The limiting factors of a population that do not depend on the population density are known as density-independent limiting factors.

Population limiting factors

The limiting factors of populations are of two types:

  • Density-dependent
  • Density-independent

Density-dependent limiting factors depend on the population density. They include competition for resources, diseases, predations etc.

Density-independent limiting factors act irrespective of the population density. They include famine, pollution, adverse climate, etc.
