He would have bought 1 1/2 Yards of ribbon. Think of it in quarters, if you have 4 quarters then you have 1 dollar, if you have 6 quarters then you have 1 1/2 dollars, so just use ribbons instead of quarters and you'll have your answer. Hope this helps!
