1. The ideals of the French Revolution and the success of the American Revolution inspired Latin American colonists with enlightened ideas about natural rights, representative government and constitutions. Assess, in a short essay, the reasons for the failure of democracy in many areas of Latin America.

Latin America was not successful in attaining democracy.  They don't have a clear plan on government transition.  Leaders from different existing groups fought themselves to have a position in the government. Over-all the nation lacks support and unity among themselves.
