I'm not to sure what the question was but because of Abe Lincon in WW1 slaves were free and before that slaves were badly treated and if they were found when escaped they were hanged or sent back to slavery (fugitive slave act).
I am kinda confused on this question. I think you mean what was the result for slaves from the people who helped them . It so people who helped save helped the gain their freedom . By hiding them in their homes from masters looking for missing slaves
