Signor Romeo's fate throughout the play seems to be nihilistic, against the backdrop of an Italian family feud. His girlfriend being the daughter of the family with which his family was feuding. And, love at that time being "tragic" Romeo and Juliet got into some sort of "agreement", shall i say which mutually cost both of them their lives. I think the expression is "star crossed lovers". Pretty miserable stuff, really, so ripe for shakespeare/ballet/opera as in dramas/tragedies.Capulet was one of the italian surnames as i recall ... don't know the other one
