Frauuofer lines used to determine the composition of the gas
Frauuofer lines are important to solar physicists.these lines provide information about temperature and wavelength shift of lines tell motion of gas.
The Fraunhofer lines C, F, G', and h correspond to the alpha, beta, gamma, and delta rays of the Balmer series of hydrogen atom emission lines. Today, Fraunhofer characters are rarely used in these lines.
Lines D1 and D2 form the well-known 'sodium doublet', whose central wavelength (589.29 nm) is denoted by the letter 'D'. This historical designation of this line is well established and is also given to all transitions between the ground state and the first excited state of other alkali atoms
The Fraunhofer letters H and K are also used for the calcium II doublet in the purple part of the spectrum. This is important in astronomical spectroscopy.
