Th1 and Th2 cells have an important role in immunity. Th1 cells helps in stimulating cellular immune response, participation in inhibition of macrophage activation and stimulation of B cells to produce IgM, IgG1 whereas Th2 stimulates humoral immune response, promotes B cell proliferation and also induces antibody production.
Th1 cells are important in the identification and eradication of intracellular pathogens such as viruses and bacteria whereas Th2 cells produces Th2 cytokines that are very important in humoral immunity and helminthic infection defense.
