Joaquin moved from Nicaragua to the United States and he started to learn to speak and write in English, and he no longer maintains any of his old culture’s styles of dress or customs. Joaquin has used assimilation method of entering the majority.
Here Joaquin is said to have used the assimilation method in entering the majority culture. As, it is seen that he changed his attitudes and even his name to feel that he belongs to the culture and for him to easily adapt to the changes of his environment.
He changed so that it will help him feel that he is in the right place and people will accept him here. However, assimilation is considered to be the process through which people and groups with different ancestries pick up attitudes, values, and way of life of a welcoming culture.
