The blocks at the corners of the rectangle are made up both the length and the width of the rectangle. So, they will be counted twice.
Number of blocks for rectangle ABCD = 5 + 3 + 5 + 3 = 16
Thus, the perimeter of the rectangle ABCD is 16 units.
2. Square EFGH
The blocks at the corners of the square are made up both the lengths of the square. So, they will be counted twice.
Number of blocks for square EFGH = 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12
Thus, the perimeter of the square EFGH is 12 units.
