Detritus: "Waste or debris of any kind" (thx google)
Tabbey

Deep-ocean benthic organisms most often feed on detritus.

Detritus are organic waste materials that are produced from decomposing dead plants or animals. Detritus are usually suspended into water bodies from surrounding land communities. Most aquatic ecosystems have detritus as their energy base. Detritus serves as a source of nutrition for most animals especially many deep-ocean benthic organisms.
