Acid rain is non-point source and it results in the decrease of pH of soil, water and damage to crops and buildings.

Acid rain is acidic precipitation that contains sulfuric and nitric acid. Acid rain is a non-point or secondary source of pollution.

Point Source Pollutant:

  • The source and type of pollutant are well-identified and confined.
  • Example- Factory Discharge

Non-point source Pollution:

  • The source of and types are of pollutants are not well identified. This includes a combination of pollutants.
  • Example- River Runoff ( It may include pollutants from cities, farmland, and factories)

Acid rain is caused by a combination of air pollutants from factories, vehicles, and other unidentified sources.  

Hence, Acid rain is non-point source pollution or secondary source pollution.
