My stuffed animal collection is made up of bears and monkeys in a 3 to 7 ratio. I have a total of 870 stuffed animals in my collection. How many more monkeys than bears are in my collection

Respuesta :

There are 348 more monkeys than bears are in his collection.

The ratio of stuffed animal collection of Bears and Monkeys = 3 : 7  [ (:) is the symbol of ratio]

Total collection of stuffed animals he has = 870 Stuffed animals

Let's take X for the addition stuffed Bears and Monkeys in the ratio because we don't have exact value we will take the help of X.

So, the total number of stuffed animals is:

3X + 7X = 870

      10X = 870

          X =  870 ÷ 10

         X = 87

Now we will find the total number of  stuffed Bears and Monkeys by multiplying 87 in their given ratio.

The total number of Bears = 3 × 87

                                          = 261 Stuffed Bears

The total number of Monkeys = 7 × 87

                                               = 609 Stuffed Monkeys

To find the number more monkeys than bears, we will substract the total number of Bears from the total number of Monkeys.

Number more monkeys than bears = 609 Stuffed Monkeys - 261 Stuffed Bears

= 348

Hence the number of monkeys more than bears is 348.
