To focus on the distant objects - When object is placed at distance, ciliary muscles of eye get relaxed and pull the suspensory ligament attached to lens ,by this eye lens become thin and focus the distant object on retina.
To Focus on nearby objects - When the object is placed nearby, ciliary muscles of eye get contract and make the suspensory ligament loose , it squeezes the eye lens into a more convex shape and focus the nearby object.
