What are tissues?
- A collection of cells with a comparable structure and function as a whole is referred to as a tissue.
- The areas between the cells are filled with a nonliving substance known as the intercellular matrix.

- A particular tissue may have special components in its intercellular matrix, such as fibres and salts, which are specific to that tissue and give it distinct properties.
