On November 10, 1958, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev delivered a speech in which he demanded that the Western powers of the United States, Great Britain and France pull their forces out of West Berlin within six months.
The Berlin Blockade was an attempt that was made by the Soviet Union in year 1948 and that was done in order to limit the ability of France, Great Britain as well as United States from travelling to their military sectors situated in Berlin which was there within the Russian occupied East Germany
When Kennedy stated that they would not leave Berlin as they were asked to, Khrushchev organized people in East Berlin to get numerous companies to work on the wall and build it around East Berlin and prevent people form going from East to West since the west was seen as bad for the Soviet Union and its plans.
