If the outcome of the Chinese Civil War had been different, the way it would most likely have affected China is that China would still be a poor country.
If the Nationalists had defeated the Chinese Communist Party and won the Chinese Civil War, the United States would have given China a lot of aid which would have vastly improved Chinese infrastructure and most probably set it on the path of economic growth.
However, the Nationalists were notable for their deep corruption and feudal tendencies that favored the rich over the poor. It is possible that U.S. investments into the country would simply have been taken by corrupt elements in society which would have left China poor.
