The DNA could be damaged by heavy metals.
The term heavy metals are metals that are known to cause a lot of damage in the body. These metals include but are not limited to cadmium, arsenic and nickel. We know the DNA to be the genetic material that is found in humans. It is composed of complementary base pairs held together by hydrogen bonds.
The presence of these heavy metals are able to damage the genetic materials in DNA and are able to disrupt the pathways of the repair of damaged DNA.
2) The release of heavy metals into the atmosphere has led to a lot of heath challenges especially the fact that they have been known to be carcinogenic. It then follows that the companies that release heavy metals into land and water ecosystems should be penalized for the damage that the are causing to the environment as well as to human health when this metals enter human system via these sources.
