When the first Spaniards came to Mexico, the relationship between the natives and the immigrants was strained. The natives included the Comanche, Navajo, Nte, and Apache people.

The natives would always raid the settlements of the Spaniards and take their sheep and livestock away. The sheep that they got from these raids were used in building and maintaining a pastoral lifestyle. So, in summary, the relationship between the two groups was strained.
