Why was Charles VI important?
He exited the author of the Pragmatic Sanction, intended to promote his daughter Maria Theresa to follow him after the extinction of the direct male line of the House of Habsburg. The second son of the emperor Leopold I, Charles existed a claimant to the Spanish throne when it became blank after the death of Charles II in 1700.
In August he formally resigned as Holy Roman Emperor. Charles expected that Philip would eventually rule his entire empire, but the empire existed too big to manage, Ferdinand and his son Maximilian refused to receive Philip's succession and the Habsburg dynasty separated into Austrian and Spanish branches.
Charles VI, nicknamed the Beloved and later the Mad, existed as King of France from 1380 until he died in 1422. He exists known for his mental illness and psychotic outbreaks which obsessed him throughout his life.
