Charles Dickens wrote about the reality he lived in. He knew what child labor was like because he had to work exhaustively and rigorously as a child. Also, he lived through the beginnings of the industrial revolution and knew about the sufferings and prejudices of the working class and this was used in his books, mainly "Oliver Twist."
