The reasons why a lot of countries wanted to conquer Mesopotamia was because the nation had resources such as technology, architecture, religion.
This tells us that when a place is developed it can draw the attention of other areas that are less developed and it may even lead these areas to fight for resource control.
When ruling, the best thing is to rule the people by tolerance. When you rule by fear, the people would see you as a dictator and may be the ones to plot for your downfall.
