An "examined life" is the life that enables one to think critically. One can also use it to make wise decisions regarding their lives. Examining one's life helps one deal with moral issues.
My experience of a person who is not living an "examined life" is my brother as he just runs after material things and success only and have no mental peace.
The Socratic virtues might help us assess the rightness of such a life as he declared that an unexamined life is not worth living. According to one interpretation, this refers to "a life enriched by thinking about things that matter: values, aims, society."
These virtues are justice, wisdom, courage, and moderation.
According to Socrates, if a person understands what is good, they will always act morally. Therefore, if one fully comprehends what courage, restraint, or justice are, one should behave in a brave, restrained, and just manner.
