On 5th July, 1787 , the great compromise, proposal was proposed as follows,

  • The Senate, also called as the upper house, would get equal representation from all the states of the U.S.A. ,
  • The lower house or the house representatives, would constitute one representative from 40,000 people from each and every state,

In The Great compromise, it was proposed that, the representation in the lower house, should be according to the population of the states

but in the upper house or the Senate every state should get equal representation.

It was also cleared that, there would be one Representative for 40,000 people of all the states of the United states of America, in the lower house.

The Senate would comprises of equal representatives from all the states weather it has larger population or the least population.
