Golgi apparatus or golgi complex is an organelle present in eukaryotic cells. Its main function is to package proteins into membrane bound vesicles before they are released to their destination.
The vesicles that are released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum enter the cis face of the golgi apparatus. The contents of the vesicles are modified and packaged here for further transport. They bud off from the golgi and are transported to the plasma membrane. They fuse here and release their contents into extracellular space in a process called as constitutive secretion.
