The subject of the exhibition "Here is New York: A Democracy of Photographs on the Streets of Soho in New York city" was the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center disaster and its aftermath.
This exhibition opened in New York City on September 25, 2001. It basically came as a witness to and documented the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. It also served to create a possibility of new sense of community that may now arise from its ashes, like a phoenix.
Anyone or everyone who took a photograph of the tragedy or anything related to it was invited , thus it was named as the "Democracy of Photographs".
