Up to 25% of the general population suffers from OSA. Higher rates of illness and mortality are linked to it and morbid obesity. An established technique for OSA screening is the STOP-Bang questionnaire. Patients with OSA have a greater risk of postoperative desaturation, airway obstruction, cardiac events, congestive heart failure, and stroke.
