Here we can define profit as the ratio between the money that they make, and the number of hours that they worked to make that money.

Matt earned $125, and spent $50 on shoes for his work, so he earned $75.

And worked 120 hours for these $75, so his profit per hour is:

M = $75/120 = $0.625

Amy worked for 110 hours, won $230 and spent $30 on clippers, then she won a total fo $200.

Her profit per hour is:

A = $200/110h = $1.82
