The collapse of the last Chinese empire in 1912 was caused by the imperial government’s failure to control foreign invasion, internal discontent, and rebellion.

The Qing dynasty that has ruled over china since 1638 collapsed in 1911-12 succeeded by the Republic of china.  There are many causes of the collapse of the Qing dynasty such as:

lack of industrialization: at a time when Europe and other powers such as US and Japan were rapidly modernizing themselves, the qin dynasty remain feudal in the economy as well as society.

Foreign interference: British defeated the Qing dynasty in two opium wars and controlled its territory that has weakened the Qing Dynasty, apart from this in 1901 the eight countries made an alliance and invaded northern china and besieged Beijing.

The Chinese revolution of 1911- The group of revolutionary rebelled against the qing dynasty and overthrow it and established the republic of china.
