Stars that have ejected a planetary nebula go on to become white

 dwarfs.

As we know planetary nebula is a type of glowing shell of ionized gases and there are various stages for the formation of stars. Stars are formed when dispersed matter in gaseous form starts coalescing together under the force of gravity into a compact object. Gravity continuously tries to shrink the object and during this process, the density and temperature inside the star rises.

The fate of the star depends critically on its mass. For stars with mass less than 1.4 solar masses of sun collapse into an extremely dense compact object called "white dwarf". Electron degeneracy pressure is responsible for counterbalancing the inward gravitational force in "white dwarf".
